Research and diagnostics depend on reliable and fast methods. A promising approach to facilitate epidemiological research is eDNA (environmental DNA). The detection of genetic material from pathogens is also more animal-friendly than currently used lethal examinations. We also develop and evaluate the potential of rapid tests for practitioners in the field.
